School Assessment

I picked School Assessment because I want to find interesting facts as to why some kids graduate high school with so much more knowledge while just as many kids if not more can not even read. If I had to make an educated guess today as to where the problem lies; I would mostly guess the parents. I think it all starts at home. If you are not raised to want to succeed then you will not be able to. If you are not pushed to do homework and actually work hard in school then you will also never work hard in school then you will also never work hard in life for anything. It is hard to decide where the fault lies since you can pinpoint different people but I believe it all starts “where it starts.” A kid spends just as much time if not more at home than at school so why should parents think that it is not their problem or even duty to be helping push and teach their own kids to read and write so they can succeed. Whenever you look at a kids and measure their quality, It all depends on how they were raised.

Sweet. I'm doing School Assessment as my topic as well. I have a sense of what your point is in writing this and explainingg why you picked this topic. In my opinion, I just do not see it as students graduating from high school with more knowledge as others. I do understand the reason WHY you want to work on this issue. I hope I am making sense here and not confusing you. Yes, everything starts from the home and the parents need to be very responsible for their children and them being success. I am not trying to destroy what you believe. There can be many reasons why high school graduates are not outstanding as other students. Outstanding can have different definitions. I think you should look more in depth then just picking this topic only just about knowledge.

i totally agree with you that the problem with kids in school all starts at home. but at the same time i feel that at some point it becomes the kids responsibility to realize that school is important and must decide for themselves that its important to go to school. i know plenty of kids that have parents that do want their kids to do good in school but don't because "they" don't find it important to do so.

Yeah, it all really does start at the home. If parents don't spend time with their kids and don't teach them how to study or work hard, then they will never learn how. They need that driving force behind them to teach them and get it done. If they know that there will be consequences from an early age, then they are more likely to do their school work. Only the parents can do that. The teachers can only do so much.

yea I thought the same thing Brittney that only teachers can do so much but after doing some research, I found that they are only relying on the teachers to do all the work.
I really do think that parents have a lot do with it. If they do not push the kid to work hard, I really doubt a TEENAGER is going to strive himself.
